The public service employees' union Verdi has called on its members to go on a day-long strike that will halt traffic at 11 German airports on Monday.
With the new strike, Verdi is seeking to increase pressure on employers in wage negotiations.
The strike begins at midnight on Sunday at the airports of Hamburg, Stuttgart, Cologne/Bonn, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Hanover, Bremen and Leipzig. Staff at the hub airports of Frankfurt and Munich will also strike.
A 24-hour suspension at all major airports in the country means that a huge number of travelers will have to change their plans.
Germany has been hit by a wave of strikes in recent weeks, ahead of the third round of negotiations between unions and federal and local authorities on a collective agreement covering around 2,5 million public sector employees.
Verdi is demanding an eight percent raise, or at least 350 euros, plus three additional days off.
