Russia announced today that it has recaptured five villages near the town of Sudzhe in its Kursk region, part of which had been occupied by the Ukrainian army, while the governor of the region reported that four workers were killed in a Ukrainian attack on a factory in that territory.
Today, the governor of the Kursk region reported that four factory workers in the region were killed in a Ukrainian attack early this morning.
"Unfortunately, three men and one woman died," Governor Aleksander Kinchetin wrote.
He said the factory is in the village of Kozyrevka and is located about 15 kilometers from heavy fighting between the Ukrainian and Russian armies.
Ukraine has controlled a small part of the Russian region since August last year, which it hopes to use as a leverage during possible peace talks.
However, Ukrainian troops have been losing territory in Kursk in recent days. The Russian Defense Ministry said today that Russian forces had recaptured five villages around Sudzh, the town that is the main Ukrainian position in the area.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today that "the dynamics are positive" in that zone.
"Russian troops are successfully advancing in the Kursk region," Peskov said at a press briefing.
The Russian military yesterday claimed to have recaptured 12 locations in the Kursk region and more than 100 square kilometers after further advances over the weekend.
