Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his army today to "completely liberate" the Russian Kursk region, where his forces have made rapid advances against Ukrainian ones in recent days, local television reported.
"I expect that all combat tasks facing our units will be completed and that the territory of the Kursk region will soon be completely liberated from the enemy," Putin, who was in military uniform, told Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.
Putin visited forces fighting the Ukrainian army in Russia's Kursk region today, the Kremlin said, as Moscow claims it has made significant gains there in recent days.
It is Putin's first visit to the Kursk region since Ukrainian forces launched a surprise offensive there in August 2024.
Ukrainian forces have seized several hundred square kilometers of the area, while Russian forces have been trying to expel them from the area in recent months.
