Ukraine will not discuss transferring ownership of its nuclear power plants, including the occupied Zaporizhia plant, to the United States, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in Oslo.
US President Donald Trump said in a phone call with Zelensky that the US could take over nuclear power plants in Ukraine.
"American ownership of these power plants would provide the best possible protection and support for Ukraine's energy infrastructure," White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said after the Trump-Zelensky phone call.
"We will not discuss this. Today we have 15 nuclear reactors in operation. All of this belongs to our state," Zelensky said at a press conference in Oslo.
The president of Ukraine said that Ukrainian and American delegations will meet on Monday in Saudi Arabia to discuss the possibility of a partial ceasefire in the war Moscow is waging against his country.
