Russian negotiator Grigori Karasin described the talks held yesterday in Saudi Arabia between the Russian and American delegations on a possible ceasefire in Ukraine as useful.
"We talked about everything, it was an intense dialogue, it was not easy but it was very useful for us and for the Americans," Karasin, one of the Russian negotiators, told the Tass news agency today.
Karasin, who is the chairman of the Federation Council's Committee on International Affairs, said the dialogue would continue.
After 12 hours of closed-door talks in Riyadh, Russia and the United States (US) announced that a joint statement on the talks held regarding the conflict in Ukraine will be issued today.
Russia would like the United Nations to be included in the negotiations, Karasin said.
"We will continue to do this, involving the international community, primarily the United Nations and individual countries. In general, we give the impression of a constructive dialogue, which is necessary. The Americans are also interested in this," Karasin said, according to the Russian news agency Tass.
