Four people were killed and 21 injured in a Russian drone attack on the city of Dnipro in central Ukraine, regional governor Sergei Lysak said.

The fire engulfed a restaurant complex and several apartment buildings after the attack late last night.

He said the enemy had sent more than 20 drones into the city and that most had been shot down, the BBC reports.

Later, images and videos emerged showing firefighters battling large fires engulfing the affected buildings.

Air raid sirens were heard overnight in several other Ukrainian regions, including the capital Kiev.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said three Ukrainian drones were intercepted over the western Belgorod region.

In a video address late last night, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky again accused Russia of targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure - violating a temporary ceasefire agreed earlier this month in US-brokered talks.

Moscow has also repeatedly blamed Ukraine for the attack on Russia's energy sector.
