Three of four American soldiers missing in Lithuania have been found dead shortly after rescuers pulled their vehicle from a swamp, the US military said today.

"Three U.S. Army soldiers attached to the 1st Armored Combat Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, were found dead in Lithuania," the U.S. Army Europe and Africa press office said, adding that the search for the fourth soldier was continuing.

The military previously said the soldiers were "conducting planned tactical training" when they went missing on March 25.

Rescue teams today pulled a sunken military vehicle carrying the aforementioned soldiers from a swamp in Lithuania.

The M88 Hercules armored vehicle was pulled out six days after a rescue operation was launched at the Pabrada military training ground, near Lithuania's border with Belarus, Radio Free Europe reported.

Lithuania, a member of NATO and the European Union (EU), is host to more than 1.000 US troops stationed in the Baltic country.
