Russia resolutely rejects the deployment of soldiers from other foreign countries in Ukraine as a security guarantee and will consider their presence in Ukraine a threat that could provoke a direct conflict with NATO, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said today.
Zakharova said at a press conference in Moscow that Europeans "have no right to decide" on this.
"This carries the risk of direct combat actions between actors (...) from individual NATO members, and thus the entire alliance with our country," Zakharova said.
With this statement, the agencies state, she once again emphasized Russia's position regarding discussions in the West about whether sending troops would be possible without Moscow's approval.
"In practice, this would mean that these countries become parties to the conflict on the side of the Kiev regime," Zakharova said, according to the Russian news agency TASS.
The agencies remind that France and Great Britain are working on creating the so-called "coalition of the willing", which would eventually send a European military contingent that should protect peace in Ukraine and prevent future Russian attacks.
