Russian troops have taken control of the village of Oleshnya in western Russia's Kursk region from Ukrainian forces, Russian state news agency RIA reported today, citing the Russian Defense Ministry, Reuters reports.
Reuters said it was unable to independently verify the report from the battlefield.
Russia has been struggling to dislodge Ukrainian troops from Kursk since Kiev sent its forces across the border in a lightning incursion in August 2024.
