A large contingent of police officers was deployed across Germany on Sunday in search of one or more suspects on the run after two men were shot dead in the central part of the country on Saturday, police and media reported.
Two men who were found dead late Saturday afternoon in the Hesse region in front of a residence had gunshot wounds, police said.
A "large contingent of forces" is being deployed, including uniformed officers, plainclothes police, special forces and a helicopter to find the perpetrator of the murders.
"According to current information, there is no danger to residents," the police said, without specifying the circumstances of the attack or the motives of the perpetrators.
The police and prosecutor's office have opened an investigation.
