The man who drove a car full of weapons and explosives into a police car on the Champs-Élysées in Paris and died, previously pledged allegiance to the leader of the Islamic State, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and asked his family to remember him as a martyr, not a bomber, he announced today. Paris public prosecutor Francois Molin, reports AP.
According to Tanjug, this same man, whom Molin identified as the French citizen "Adam D", went to Turkey several times in 2016, and large quantities of weapons, gold and jewelry were found in his possession, according to Reuters.
On June 19, "Adam D" rammed a car full of weapons and explosives into a police convoy and died on the spot, reminds Reuters.
"The arsenal of weapons discovered in the vehicle underscores the scale of the terrorist attack that was being planned, which, had it succeeded, would have had horrific consequences for human life," Molin said.
