US President Donald Trump said Russia and Ukraine were moving closer to a peace agreement and called on both sides to meet at a high level to finalize the deal.
"They are very close to a deal and the two sides should now meet at very high levels to finalize it," Trump wrote late last night on the Truth Social platform, shortly after landing in Rome, where he will attend the funeral of Pope Francis.
He said that most of the main points have been agreed upon, Hina reports.
"Stop the bloodshed, now. We will be wherever needed to help facilitate the end of this cruel and senseless war," Trump said.
He said it was a "good day" of talks and meetings with Russia and Ukraine.
US Special Envoy Steve Vitkoff met again with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Friday.
