United States President Donald Trump left Rome after attending Pope Francis' funeral at the Vatican on Saturday, where he also held private talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to reports from journalists traveling with the president.
Zelensky said on social media that the meeting was "good" and had "the potential to become historic."
"Good meeting. We talked about a lot of things one-on-one. I hope for results on everything we talked about. Protection of the lives of our people. A full and unconditional ceasefire. A reliable and lasting peace that will prevent the outbreak of a new war. A very symbolic meeting that has the potential to become historic, if we achieve joint results. Thank you, President," Zelensky wrote on X.
