The Sistine Chapel in the Vatican is closed today, and cardinals have gathered to elect a new pope.
Pope Francis was buried on Saturday in the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, and hundreds of thousands of people gathered in St. Peter's Square in Rome, as well as a significant number of world leaders.
The Sistine Chapel is currently preparing for the conclave, or council of cardinals that will elect a new pope after the nine-day mourning period ends, which will begin between May 5 and 10.
Tourists who managed to enter the Sistine Chapel on Sunday consider themselves lucky, given that it is not known how long the conclave will last.
"I think we were very lucky to be the last group of visitors to come today. You know, our trip wouldn't be complete if we hadn't seen this beautiful place," said one tourist.
