Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that he would "wait" for his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Turkey, where Putin had earlier suggested that talks begin on Thursday.
"We expect a complete and permanent ceasefire, starting tomorrow, to provide the necessary basis for diplomacy," Zelensky wrote on the X platform.
"I will wait for Putin in Turkey on Thursday. Personally. I hope that this time the Russians will not look for excuses," Zelensky added.
US President Donald Trump today called on Ukraine and Russia to meet to negotiate a ceasefire without delay, with Moscow proposing direct talks and Kiev seeking a ceasefire.
