Vitaly Šumej's family and friends say he is "a living example that miracles are possible."

This Ukrainian soldier regained the ability to speak despite losing part of his skull in a Russian attack in 2022.

Thanks to international surgeons and the care of his devoted father, Shumei is recovering from his injuries and hopes to one day be able to walk again.
