A man has been arrested on suspicion of setting fires "with intent to endanger life" at two properties owned by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, London police said today.

The man (21), whose identity has not been released, is currently in police custody and is suspected of being linked to "three incidents," the statement said, adding that an investigation has been launched by the police's counter-terrorism unit.

Police said the suspect was arrested early this morning "on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life."

Emergency services were called to the scene of a fire at the entrance to two Labour leader's properties in north London on Sunday and again overnight.

The fire at Keir Starmer's former home in Kentish Town, which was reported to the fire brigade at around 1.30am on Monday morning, caused damage to the entrance to the property, but no one was injured.

Starmer resided in the house until his move to 10 Downing Street (the prime minister's residence) in July 2024. He still owns the properties, according to British media reports.

The London Metropolitan Police's counter-terrorism unit is also investigating "two related incidents" involving a vehicle set on fire on May 8 and a fire on Sunday at the entrance to another building.

"All three fires are currently being treated as suspicious and the investigation is ongoing," police added.
