Pro-European Bucharest Mayor Nicosor Dan is leading in the second round of Romania's presidential election, according to two exit polls released after the polls closed.
Centrist candidate Dan won more than 54 percent of the vote, while his opponent, leader of the far-right AUR party Đorđe Simion, received around 45 percent.
However, Simion declared victory, citing "fraud" in the just-concluded elections.
The elections were held in a tense atmosphere and, according to initial estimates, there was a large voter turnout.
