German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that the war in Ukraine is expected to drag on, due to Russia's reluctance to start negotiations.
As reported by Tanjug, Merz said this at a joint press conference with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpp in the Finnish city of Turku.
"Wars usually end due to economic or military exhaustion of one or both sides, and in this war we are clearly still far from that," said Merc.
He added that Europe may have to prepare for a longer duration of the war, Reuters reports.
Merck, during a visit to Lithuania last week, said that negotiations between Russia and Ukraine were still in their early stages and could take months.
