Portuguese authorities have arrested six people linked to the far-right group Armillary Luzitano Movement (MAL) and seized explosive material and several firearms, police said today.
Authorities seized explosives, firearms, ammunition and knives. The suspects were arrested for crimes related to terrorist groups and activities, discrimination and incitement to hatred and violence, as well as possession of prohibited weapons, the police said in a statement.
MAL sought to establish itself as a political movement, according to police allegations.
Last month, in snap parliamentary elections, the anti-immigration party Čega won the second-largest number of seats in parliament and became the main opposition party.
