Five people, including a hotel manager and his son, were stabbed at a hotel in the southern French city of Marseille on Sunday, with one person in critical condition, the city's prosecutor said, Reuters reported.
The attacker was from Tunisia, had two knives and a crowbar, and died after being shot by police, prosecutor Nicolas Besson and police said.
Besson told reporters that the attacker, a legal immigrant, had been evicted from the hotel for non-payment of rent.
The incident occurred at 14:45 p.m. in the first arrondissement, or district, of Marseille.
