Tommy Robinson, the organizer of a large protest in London against the British government's immigration policy, claims that the rally brought together "millions of patriots."
Police announced yesterday that around 110.000 people had gathered, as reported by the media.
Robinson posted footage of the crowd on the streets of London, captured by the Guardian's helicopter.
"The Guardian reported today that there were '110' people at our London rally. Paradoxically, they had their own helicopter, which clearly showed the millions of patriots who had gathered. The traditional media proves once again that they will lie to your face without hesitation for their own interests. This is why no one trusts them anymore. We are the media now," Robinson wrote on X.
The post was also shared by billionaire Elon Musk with the comment: "You are the media now."
Interestingly, however, in response to a user who asked to analyze the number of people in the video, Musk's Grok wrote that he estimated there were up to 150.000 people, but the question is how Grok came to his estimate. Musk's AI chatbot also wrote that the claims of millions of people seem exaggerated.
The culmination of a tense summer in Britain, a clash with the police
A large march called "Let's Unite the Kingdom" was held in central London, organized by anti-immigration activist Tommy Robinson. Participants wore British, English, American and Israeli flags, as well as hats with the inscription MAGA of US President Donald Trump. They chanted slogans against immigration and Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and messages such as "send them home" could be seen on banners. Robinson described the rally as a celebration of free speech, and children were among the protest participants, reports Index.hr.
At the same time, a much smaller counter-protest, "Let's Stand Up Against Racism," was held.
Police deployed more than 1.600 officers, including cavalry and reinforcements from other parts of the country. Clashes broke out when protesters tried to break through police cordons and approach counter-protesters, police said. Several officers were attacked and the situation was calmed down with additional forces.
The protest is the culmination of a tense summer in Britain, during which rallies were held outside hotels housing migrants. Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon, has multiple criminal convictions and although he is supported by some celebrities such as Elon Musk, the political party Reform UK has distanced itself from him. His supporters say they are fighting for freedom of speech and stopping illegal migration.
Immigration has become a dominant political issue in Britain in recent months, overshadowing economic concerns. The country has seen record asylum claims, with more than 28.000 people crossing the English Channel in small boats this year alone.
