Two people were killed and three were seriously injured today in a car crash and then a knife attack on a crowd outside a synagogue in Manchester, UK, police said.
The attacker, who was carrying explosives, is also believed to be dead.
The attack took place as worshippers gathered in the synagogue for Yom Kippur, the Jewish holiday.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he was appalled by the attack and was returning from the European Political Community Summit in Copenhagen to chair an emergency meeting in London.
Starmer announced that he would increase police security at synagogues.
Britain's King Charles III said he was "deeply shocked" by the attack, and Manchester Mayor Eddie Burnham congratulated the police for their swift response.
