Czech President Petr Pavel appointed billionaire and populist ANO party leader Andrej Babiš as the new prime minister on Monday in a ceremony broadcast live on television, Reuters reported.
Babiš, whose ANO party won parliamentary elections held on October 3-4, will take over from the center-right government after his entire cabinet is appointed, which is expected later this month.
On December 4, Babiš announced that in order to avoid a conflict of interest, he would forever give up his business empire in the agricultural, food and chemical industries - the AGROFERT concern, which operates in 20 countries around the world.
