French President Emmanuel Macron said tonight that in a phone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, he said that France will continue to support Ukraine in achieving a solid and lasting peace.
"France has and will continue to stand by Ukraine to build a solid and lasting peace capable of guaranteeing the security and sovereignty of Ukraine and Europe in the long term. I thank all the negotiators - Ukrainian, European and American - who are working towards this goal," Macron wrote on the X platform.
The French president said he had just spoken to President Zelensky. "Americans, Europeans and Ukrainians are looking for peace. While Russia continues its aggressive war, Ukraine remains steadfast," he added.
Zelensky and his delegation are in Berlin tonight and tomorrow to try to convince Washington and Europe to reject territorial concessions to Russia in negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.
