Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned today after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's meeting with US President Donald Trump and their talks with European leaders that the West and Ukraine will suffer defeat if Russia succeeds in dictating the terms of peace.
"After tonight's talks with the leaders of European countries, one thing is certain: the West and Ukraine will be defeated in this conflict if Russia succeeds in dividing us and dictating the terms of peace," Tusk said on the X network.
The Polish Prime Minister participated in the consultations of European leaders with Zelensky before the meeting with Trump, while later in the conversation with Trump and Zelensky after the meetings he was replaced by Polish President Karol Nawrocki, who is ideologically close to Trump and the MAGA movement.
"The success is the US participation in security guarantees. But the finale of the talks is still far away," said Tusk, who yesterday said that European leaders agree that Ukraine's security guarantees are crucial for peace.
After the conversation between Zelensky and Trump, President Nawrocki said that tonight's talks show that all interested parties must participate in decision-making and emphasized the importance of Poland as a hub through which 90 percent of aid to Ukraine flows.
"The determination of the American side and the unity of European states provide a real chance to end the war provoked by the Russian Federation," X Navrocki said online.
Polish Defense Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Wladyslaw Kośniak-Kamiś reiterated today that Poland will not send soldiers to any peacekeeping forces in Ukraine and that the government sees Poland's role in the transit of aid and logistical support to Ukraine.
