Two women have accused Spanish star Julio Iglesias of sexually assaulting them while they were live-in employees at his Caribbean estates, The Independent reports.

A domestic worker claims she was forced to have sex with a Spanish singer, describing slapping as well as physical and verbal abuse.

The physiotherapist, who also worked for the singer, alleged that she was subjected to inappropriate touching, insults and humiliation during that period, in an atmosphere of control and constant harassment.

As the latest celebrity embroiled in the #MeToo scandal, Iglesias faces allegations that he abused two women in 2021, when the younger one was 22 years old.

The alleged attacks took place at his homes in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and in Lyford Cay, Bahamas.

The charges were announced on Tuesday, following a joint investigation by Spanish newspaper eldiario.es and television station Univision.

The Independent newspaper contacted Iglesias' representative.

One of the alleged victims, who is referred to in the text as Rebeca (not her real name), says that the Spanish artist, then 77 years old, often invited her to his room at the end of the evening.

"He used me almost every night. I felt like an object, like a slave," she told elDiario.es and Univision Noticias.

She stated that the alleged sexual encounters almost always took place in the presence of another, older member of his household staff.

Another woman, who is referred to in the text as Laura (also not her real name), claims that Iglesias kissed her on the mouth and touched her breasts against her will.

Eldiario.es and Univision claim that they have repeatedly tried to contact Iglesias and his lawyer, but have not received a response to questions sent via email, phone messages and letters delivered to his home address.

These media outlets also attempted to contact the person in charge of managing the house where the alleged attacks took place, but also received no response.

However, the woman Rebecca listed as her first superior at the Punta Cana villa dismissed the allegations as "nonsense."

The former manager said she felt only "gratitude, admiration and respect for the great artist and man he is," describing Iglesias as "humble, generous, a true gentleman and very respectful of all women."

Iglesias became a star in the United Kingdom when his song "Begin the Beguine" became a huge success, reaching number one on the British charts in 1981.

Iglesias has sold more than 300 million records worldwide.
