A 50-year-old man was killed in a massive Russian attack on the Kiev region in Ukraine, Governor Mykola Kalashnyk said today, Reuters reports.
The attack also damaged the facilities of two gas stations, he said on the messaging app Telegram.
Reuters also reports that Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced today that around 5.635 residential buildings in Kyiv were left without heating as a result of the Russian attack.
Almost 80 percent of those buildings were those where heat supply was restored after the previous attack on January 9, he added on Telegram.
Klitschko also stated on Telegram that Russian forces carried out a combined drone and missile attack on Kiev early this morning, causing disruptions in electricity and water supplies.
He also said that the impact on the eastern bank of the Dnieper River also disrupted electricity and water supplies. One non-residential building was hit and one person was injured, Klitschko said.
Unofficial Telegram channels posted photos of darkened residential skyscrapers.
Timur Tkachenko, head of the military administration of the Ukrainian capital, said that a warehouse area was damaged and several cars were set on fire.
