France has requested that NATO military exercises be held in Greenland and is ready to contribute to it, the office of French President Emmanuel Macron announced today.
As reported by Reuters, the information about this request comes at a time when US President Donald Trump is expected to arrive in Davos, where the World Economic Forum is being held.
Trump is expected to use the event to increase pressure to take over Greenland, despite Europe's stance.
Macron previously said in Davos that Europe will not give in to bullies, nor will it be intimidated, while criticizing Trump's threats of tariffs if Europe does not allow him to take over Greenland.
NATO leaders have warned that Trump's strategy towards Greenland could shake the Alliance.
Trump also linked the topic of Greenland to his dissatisfaction with not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.
