Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with more than 400 drones and about 40 missiles of various types, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced.
In a post on Iks, along with photos from the field, he wrote that, where possible, rescue operations are continuing and that the main targets were the power grid, production capacities, and electricity distribution substations.
Damage was recorded in Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Rivne regions, he added.
Attacks were also recorded in the Kiev and Kharkiv regions.
"Air defense operations are still underway in some regions. Every day, Russia could choose real diplomacy, but instead it chooses new strikes. It is crucial that all those who support trilateral negotiations react to this," Zelensky wrote.
He added that Moscow must be denied the opportunity to use the cold as a means of pressure on Ukraine.
"This requires deliveries of missiles for the Patriot, NASAMS and other systems. Every shipment helps us get through this winter. I thank all our partners who understand this and who sincerely help us," Zelensky said.
