Fifteen people have been arrested in the Netherlands on suspicion of spreading Islamic State propaganda on TikTok and trying to persuade people to commit terrorist attacks, Dutch prosecutors said.
The arrests were made after a TikTok account was discovered spreading large amounts of Islamic State propaganda with Dutch subtitles, prosecutors said, Reuters reports.
The TikTok posts, some of which had more than 100.000 views, urged people to join the Islamic State and glorified becoming a martyr for the violent Islamist group, they added.
Thirteen of the suspects are Syrians and four have Dutch citizenship, prosecutors said, suggesting some had dual citizenship. Four are minors.
The suspects, aged between 16 and 53, were detained during raids across the Netherlands, following the arrest last month of a person whom prosecutors say is the main suspect, Reuters reports.
TikTok is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance.
