The heads of state or government of the EU member states will meet in an informal meeting in a castle in Belgium tomorrow to discuss strengthening the competitiveness, autonomy and prosperity of the European Union, the European Council announced today.
European Council President Antonio Costa called on them to consider how to strengthen the single market, reduce economic dependencies and enhance the EU's competitiveness in the new geoeconomic context.
"In the current geopolitical environment, strengthening our single market is now more than ever an urgent strategic imperative," Košta said in a statement.
"We hold a powerful card in our hand - our single market. With 450 million consumers, it is a true European superpower and we must use it to its full potential," Košta wrote.
Former Italian Prime Ministers Mario Draghi and Enrico Letta will also participate in the meeting and socializing at the Alden Bizen castle in eastern Belgium.
