German philosopher Jürgen Habermas, one of Germany's most famous intellectuals, has died at the age of 96, his publisher announced today.
The publishing house "Schurkamp" announced that Habermas died today in Starnberg, near Munich.
Habermas often addressed political issues, and his work spans the fields of philosophy, sociology, and communications.
He is known for works such as "Public Opinion" and "Theory of Communicative Action".
Habermas is also known for mentoring former Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Đinđić during his studies in Germany.
