Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Ukraine could face a shortage of missiles due to the war in the Middle East.
Zelensky said in an interview with the BBC that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin wants a protracted war between Iran, Israel and the United States, because it would weaken Ukraine but also divert American resources and support.
"For Putin, a protracted war in Iran is an advantage. In addition to affecting energy prices, it also means depleting American reserves and exhausting air defense manufacturers. As a result, we (Ukraine) are left without resources," the Ukrainian president pointed out.
He stated that the US produces between 60 and 65 missiles per month, while on the first day of the war in Iran, as many as 803 missiles were used.
The Ukrainian president warned that there will definitely be a shortage of interceptor missiles for the US Patriot system, which poses a challenge for Kiev. The question now is when all the supplies in the Middle East will be exhausted, he added.
As early as early March, Zelensky warned of a shortage of missiles for Patriot missile defense systems. He had previously appealed for Ukraine to receive additional Patriot missiles, offering in return to send interceptor drones to allies in the Gulf who had been targeted by Iran.
