Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that several strategic areas in relations with Armenia, Georgia and Slovakia have been unblocked. He stressed on the sidelines of the eighth summit of the European Political Community in Yerevan that this is the first visit to Armenia at this level in the last 24 years, which, he said, is an important political signal.

In Yerevan, Zelensky also spoke with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. After the meeting, the parties agreed to hold intergovernmental consultations next month, Ukrainian Justice reports.

"Diplomats will now decide whether it will be in Bratislava or Kiev. All ministers will be present, which is important, there will already be concrete things and cooperation. I think this is also a good signal," said the Ukrainian president.

As reported, on the sidelines of the summit, Zelensky also met for the first time with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

"We also had a little one-on-one conversation with the Georgian Prime Minister for the first time in a long time. I believe this is also the right move," Zelensky commented on the meeting.

Kobakhidze and several other members of Georgia's ruling party were placed under ten-year Ukrainian sanctions in 2024.

Relations between official Kiev and Tbilisi have been extremely difficult in recent years, partly due to the ruling Georgian Dream party's stance on the Russo-Ukrainian war and its constant accusations of alleged plans to "become a second front."

Georgia was without a Ukrainian ambassador for almost four years before Mykhailo Brodovich was appointed to the position in January 2026.
