At least four people have been killed in Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian regions, including Moscow, Russian authorities said today.

Three people died in the Moscow region and one in the Belgorod region, Reuters reports.

Air defenses have destroyed 81 drones heading towards Moscow since midnight, TASS reported, citing Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

It is the largest attack on Moscow in the past year.

Sobyanin said 12 people were injured, mostly near the entrance to the Moscow oil refinery, while three houses were damaged.

He added that the refinery's operations are not at risk.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that 556 drones were shot down over the ground during the night and morning.

Parts of the drone fell in the area of the country's largest airport, Sheremetyevo, but officials confirmed that no damage was caused.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that Ukraine's attacks on Moscow are fully justified and are a response to Russia's prolongation of the war.

"Ukrainian attacks are fully justified. They are a response to Russia's prolongation of the war and its attacks on Ukrainian cities," Zelensky said on social media.

He added that Ukrainian drone and missile manufacturers are continuing production.

"We are sending a clear message to the Russians - their country must end the war," Zelensky said.

He thanked the Ukrainian security service and defense forces for their high-precision strikes on Moscow.

"The distance from the Ukrainian border is more than 500 kilometers. The concentration of Russian air defense in the Moscow region is at its maximum. But we keep it under control. Glory to Ukraine!" Zelensky added on the social network X.
