The management of Ukraine's Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, which was set up by Russia, announced today that Ukrainian forces shelled part of the plant for the second day in a row, damaging a transport workshop, but that the plant's operations were not disrupted.
The management, in a post on Telegram, stated that there were no injuries in the incident. The roof of the workshop was damaged, as were the buses used to transport employees, while windows were broken on the nearby communications building.
The Russian military seized the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe with six reactors, a few weeks after invading Ukraine in February 2022. Both sides regularly accuse each other of military activities that threaten nuclear safety.
The power plant's management announced on Saturday that a Ukrainian drone had crashed near the plant's power units, but that it did not explode and that operations at the plant had continued normally.
The Zaporozhye power plant has been hit by drones several times since the conflict began. It does not generate electricity, but it must continue to operate to keep the nuclear fuel cool.
