Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today that Moscow could continue dialogue with Europe regarding Russia's war in Ukraine, the Ukrainian newspaper Kyiv Independent reported.
Peskov said the Kremlin was interested in continuing communication and expressed hope that a "pragmatic approach" would ultimately be achieved.
"The Russian side will be ready for that," said a Kremlin spokesman.
Peskov criticized the European Union's (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kalas, who was the prime minister of Estonia, saying she would not be suitable for future negotiations with Moscow.
"It would not be in Kaja Kalas's interest to play the role of negotiator. It would not be easy for her. If you remember, (Russian President Vladimir) Putin said that it could be anyone, who has not said too many bad things about Russia," the Kremlin spokesman added.
