A man suspected of several murders in southern Turkey committed suicide when surrounded by police, local media reported today.
A 37-year-old man suspected of killing his wife and five other people in Tarsus, Mersin province, yesterday, and injuring eight people.
The attacker hid in a house and committed suicide after being surrounded, the Anadolu Agency reports.
It is suspected that the man first killed his wife in the street, and then fired from a car at the restaurant, where he killed the owner and one employee.
He later allegedly killed a teenager, a 50-year-old man and another person in another part of the city.
The governor of Mersin province said the attacker was a psychiatric patient.
