The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office and President Volodymyr Zelensky presented today the number of victims of Russian violence, especially children, stating that 707 have been killed and 2.548 injured since the beginning of the Russian invasion more than four years ago.
"Every death is a child whose future was stolen," the Ukrainian president wrote on Telegram, calling on Russia to "bear responsibility for these crimes."
The prosecutor's office also stated on Telegram that more than 6.000 criminal cases have been initiated for crimes against children.
It added that this number refers only to documented cases and that "the true scale of the tragedy in the temporarily occupied territories (in eastern Ukraine) could be much higher."
Indictments have been filed with the courts against 108 people.
"There is no statute of limitations for such crimes," the prosecution added.
Local authorities: 847 residential buildings damaged in Kyiv since the beginning of the year
Local authorities in Kiev announced today that as of May 29, 847 residential buildings had been damaged in Russian attacks since the beginning of 2026 in the Ukrainian capital.
Authorities said on social media that 362 buildings were damaged in 2022, 272 in 2023, and 543 in 2024. However, 2025 remains the most devastating year for Kyiv, with 1.520 damaged residential buildings, according to data released by the municipal administration.
Authorities added that 30 apartment buildings have been renovated since 2022, while another 38 are currently in the reconstruction phase.
This year, the Kiev budget has allocated more than 1,2 billion hryvnia (23,2 million euros) to repair damaged buildings.
Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
