St. Petersburg residents urged not to leave their homes after Ukrainian attacks

Russian officials warned residents of St. Petersburg this morning not to leave their homes after an alleged large-scale attack by Ukrainian drones.

St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov advised residents not to go outside, to stay at home, and warned of possible disruptions in mobile internet.

Regional governor Alexander Drozdenko said 141 drones had been shot down over the surrounding Leningrad Oblast, while the Russian Defense Ministry said air defenses had shot down 376 Ukrainian aircraft.

The number of victims is unknown.

Today's attack came after a Ukrainian drone set fire to an oil terminal in St. Petersburg and hit a nearby naval base on Wednesday, hours before the opening of the International Economic Forum.

In Ukraine, one person was killed and three were wounded overnight in the Dnipropetrovsk region, when Russian forces attacked three districts nearly 30 times with drones and artillery, regional governor Alexander Hanzha said this morning.

In Zaporizhia, five people sought medical attention after a Russian drone strike caused a fire in a parking lot, regional official Ivan Fedorov said.

Russia attacked Ukraine with 272 drones overnight, and air defenses shot down 249 of them, the Ukrainian Air Force announced today.

The latest attacks came a day after Putin rejected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's proposal for a face-to-face meeting to end the war, which he described as "meaningless."
