Lavrov: Russia and North Korea working to establish a just world order

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov wrote in a message to North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui that their countries are working to establish "a new, just world order, based on true equality and national interests," North Korea's state news agency KCNA reported.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent 14.000 troops to Russia in late 2024 to help repel a major Ukrainian incursion into the Kursk region, and Russian President Vladimir Putin publicly thanked him.

Lavrov said today that "the participation of soldiers of the Korean People's Army in the operations to expel the Ukrainian Nazi clique and foreign mercenaries from Kursk is clear evidence of the tradition of friendship created by the heroic generations that preceded them."

Pyongyang has supplied Russia with millions of artillery and mortar shells, ballistic missiles, long-range artillery and multiple rocket launchers, Reuters added.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently claimed that 50.000 North Korean soldiers would be sent to Russia to aid its aggression against his country.

South Korea and Western countries fear that Moscow is helping Pyongyang develop weapons in exchange for its support for Russia's war against Ukraine.
