The police urgently closed a shopping center in the German city of Essen after a "reliable tip" about an imminent terrorist attack, reports RT.
"At the moment, the investigation indicates that the threat was aimed exclusively at the shopping center," according to the statement issued by the local police, as reported by the DPA agency.
The nature of the threat to the shopping center on Limbeker Square in Essen has not been disclosed.
In order to prevent putting visitors at risk, the police decided to close the shopping center and the garage for the whole day as a precaution.
The police came to the scene in large numbers, all entrances were closed, and early in the morning there were only a small number of employees in the shopping center.
The decision to close the shopping center was made during the night.
In April last year, two young Muslims in Essen carried out a bomb attack on a Sikh place of worship.
Three people were injured in that explosion, and the trial against them began at the beginning of December.
The Muslims said they considered members of the Sikh religious community to be infidels.
