The Austrian Ministry of Defense will sue European aircraft manufacturer Airbus for alleged corruption and bribery in connection with the controversial sale of Eurofighter fighter jets worth two billion dollars, the Austrian Ministry of Defense announced.
"We will file a lawsuit against Airbus," said Mikael Bauer, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, reports Tanjug.
He told AFP that the results of a state investigation into a 2003 contract to buy 15 fighter jets would be released later in the day.
Austrian media report that the investigation found that Airbus falsely increased prices.
Austria initially ordered 18 aircraft, but later reduced the order to 15 aircraft.
