Fierce fighting between the forces of the Syrian government and the rebels broke out today in the city of Aleppo in the north of Syria shortly after the end of the ceasefire declared by Russia, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) announced.
Artillery fire and clashes were reported in several neighborhoods along the front line in the city, which has been divided since 2012 into western zones under the control of President Bashar al-Assad's government and eastern rebel neighborhoods, the Observatory said.
Syrian government forces, supported by Russian aviation, have intensified attacks on the rebel-held part of Aleppo since September 22, which is why representatives of international organizations and world officials have begun to accuse them of war crimes.
Russia declared a three-day "humanitarian" truce, which expired today at 19:18 local time (XNUMX:XNUMX CET).
