Hurricane Matthew continued its path along the Atlantic coast today, but weakened to the strength of a Category XNUMX hurricane, the US National Hurricane Center announced.
At eight o'clock local time, the hurricane was registered about 35 kilometers south-southeast of Charleston in the US state of South Carolina, but its winds dropped to a speed of 140 kilometers per hour, reports Reuters and AP.
More than 150.000 people in South Carolina remained without power, and 250.000 of them on the coast of Georgia.
"Matthew" is expected to approach the southern coast of North Carolina by this evening, according to the AP.
