North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has called the latest launch of ballistic missiles from a submarine "the greatest success," state media in Pyongyang reported.
The result of the launch proved that North Korea has joined "the first line of military forces that are fully equipped with nuclear attack capabilities," Kim said, according to the North's KCNA news agency.
North Korea tested a submarine-launched ballistic missile off its east coast on Tuesday, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported.
The test was carried out at 5.30:23 a.m. local time, i.e. XNUMX p.m. CET, near the city of Sinpo, the Joint Staff of the South Korean Armed Forces announced, as reported by the AFP agency.
Pyongyang carried out the test at a time of escalating tensions with South Korea, with North Korean authorities threatening retaliation over joint military exercises between South Korea and the US, which Pyongyang called a test of a nuclear attack and invasion.
