US President Donald Trump said today that he has written answers to special prosecutor Robert Mueller's questions regarding the investigation into the alleged ties of his 2016 election campaign to Russia, but that he has not yet submitted them, reports Tanjug.
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he answered questions "very easily" this Sunday, the Associated Press reports.
"You always have to be careful when you answer questions from people who probably ask them with bad intentions. But, no, I routinely answered them," Trump said in his latest critical review of the investigation, without saying when he would turn the answers over to Mueller.
The special counsel has indicated that he is ready to receive Trump's written answers, but the president's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, has repeatedly said that he will not answer Mueller's questions about possible obstruction of justice.
Trump continues to maintain that he is innocent and that there was no need for the Mueller investigation, which he says is just a waste of millions of dollars.
