Russian ground forces did not participate in Syrian operations in the fight to liberate Palmyra, according to today's Kremlin statement.
The Kremlin also confirmed that the Russian Air Force will continue to help Syrian troops, reports Reuters.
"We are talking about the support of military aircraft while the ground forces did not participate in any operation," the statement said.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that, after the withdrawal of part of the Russian military contingent from Syria, air units remain in two parts of the territory in Hmeimim and Tartous.
"In those parts of Syria, Russia will continue the fight against terrorist groups from the air and support the Syrian army," he said.
