One Israeli was killed and another was wounded today, when two Palestinian attackers armed with knives entered a supermarket near Jerusalem, in the West Bank, Israeli media reported.
The attackers were shot by a passer-by shortly after the attack, the Israeli army said. The attackers and both victims were taken to an Israeli hospital, where one Israeli succumbed to his injuries.
Israel's Channel 10 TV reported that the Palestinians, teenagers from Ramallah, entered the supermarket and searched for victims for about 17 minutes, before attacking two customers, a 35-year-old and a XNUMX-year-old, stabbing them in the upper body.
An unidentified civilian, who shot at the attackers, gave a statement to that television, the Associated Press reports. He stated that he was armed with a gun and was in the prayer section of the supermarket when he heard screaming. Then he went outside and shot.
This is the latest incident in a wave of violence that has been going on for five months. Since mid-September, 28 Israelis have been killed, mostly in Palestinian knife attacks. During that time, Israeli fire killed 162 Palestinians, most of them attackers, according to Israel.
